ECLECTICA Electronica Fest is a monthly showcase of the top PSY and ELECTRONICA acts currently making waves in the local underground dance scene, hosted over two floors, including a third floor playing the more mainstream urban beats. February's edition is gonna be HEAVING!

JAM JARR ::

A spasm of electronic, a shiver of dirty, filthy, salt up your nose kinda bass. Jam Jarr is a glitch-rap duo made up of Soundproof and Waykin Bakaman, and they’re here to tear your eardrums asunder with a cache of tracks ranging from dubstep to glitch-hop, and all the other beat-stops inbetween. Their first EP - Fat Fruit - was released on African Dope Records, and their second - I Am The Danger - is scheduled for release in March. A release on Dutch record label "Subfinity Records" in collaboration with 'Process Rebel' is also coming out early 2011.

Jam Jarr is - One producer, one MC, a bag full of death-defying bass and a tongue-lashing rap festival, all taking place in a circus clown car with no shock absorbers. If it's festivals and clubs you want, they've played at a ton: Rezonance, Earthdance, The Tunnels, The Village, (and many other funny names), The Assembly, Fiction, The Cape Town Castle. They've gone to Johannesburg, Mossel Bay, Grahamstown... it's all in there.

Soundproof, also known as Rubix Qube, Phat Planet and a part of Biorythm brings the beats that he’s been putting together for the last decade and more. He's making tidal waves in the trance scene and is travelling internationally on a regular basis for his flagrant skills. (Portugal, Australia, USA)

Waykin Bakaman is a rhyme slayer of note, also known as MCynic, Shimmy Fazaa, and YOUR MOTHER. Yet to bring out his first EP (scheduled for mid 2011), some people call him a lazy bastard. While in fact, he's the kind of guy that’ll get your grandmother into rap music, he's also your girlfriend’s worst nightmare and the man to make you realize you and your friends can’t rap.

SHOCKWAVE ::

Shockwave consists of long time friends Niel Kirsten and Ronald de Stadler. Both being musicians for well over a decade they discovered Psychedelic Trance parties in early 1999 , but it was only after being inspired by a Solar Eclipse festival in the remote wilderness of Southern Africa during 2002 that the duo decided to produce their own brand of Full-on Psychedelic Trance.

During 2005 Shockwave decided to relocate to Cape town , the Psychedelic Trance Capital of South Africa and after many years of refining their sound they’ve recently exploded onto the scene taking dance floors by storm all across the country. To date they have played alongside artists such as Artifakt, Absolum, Cosmosis, OOOD, The Commercial Hippies, Burn in Noise, Phyx, Rabdom L, Chabunk and Static Flow as well as dj's such as Bruce, Gandalf, Regan, Jos, Sterealkey, Mac and many more.

Shockwave’s music can be described as an euphoric journey into the psychedelic experience filled with powerful basslines , highly energetic rythms, soaring atmospheres and uplifting melodies that will keep any dancefloor grooving. So be sure not to miss the point of impact when Shockwave hits a dance floor near you.

SWITCHCACHE ::

SwiTcHcaChe aka Broken Switch (psy-tech, breaks & dnb), started djing in 2003, mixing drum & bass, breaks, hard house & psytrance on vinyl. He is owner of PsynOpticz Productions and is also signed as a Dj to MMD in 2009 as well as Fractal Records in 2011.

Discovering his passion for twilight psy he moved from playing house parties, to indoor events to outdoor festivals such as Jungala Festival, ZONE Festival, Earthdance Cape Town, Vortex, Prism Rezonance NYE, Origin, The Village, Beartrap, MMD, Groovy Troopers, Beartrap & Fu-cha Gatherings. He has played alongside leading psytrance artist such as Electrypnose, Orca, Hujaboy, Twisted System, Jay Om, Menog, Geko, Slug, Artifakt, Shift, Jibaro, Daksinamurti, Anestetic, Toxic, Digital Talk, Phatmatix, Illegal Machines, Xatrix, Deliriant, Rubix Qube, sG4rY and many more.

SILO is Karl Douglas from the Mother City, Cape Town :)
Karl plays a special selection of “psy/progressive trance" and has played at many outdoors like Earthdance, Rezonance, Origin, Vortex, Alien Safari, Groovy Troopers, Love & Light Festival, The Village, to name a few. His stage presence and energy takes the dancefloor through a melodic psychedelic story :)
When Karl's not gigging he spends time surfing, eating, hanging out with friends and most of all, spends lots of time working on his production techniques, constantly refining his sound, watch this space...

SPLIFF POLITIX ::

Spliff Politix is the Live electronica side project of dj Bruce.A fusion of inspiration. Elements of Ambient, Lounge, Breaks, funk, rock and a host of other colourful acoustic characters and circuit goblins to spice up the mix...

BRUCE ::
Bruce started dj'ing in 1997, after being bitten by the psybug at the incense drenched psychedelic temple that was LOGOS. Soon afterwards he started playing at small outdoor parties, and also became resident dj at the legendary club Getafix and it's reincarnation Organafix. Over the last 13 years, he has become a mainstay on the Cape Town festival circuit, playing at small free underground parties on the beaches and forests as well as the large festivals, such as Vortex, Alien safari, Groovy Troopers, Beartrap, MMD, The Village, Earthdance, Rezonance, Organik, etc..
He also produces as Solar Axis (solo project) ) and Spliff Politix (off beat electronica)
