29 February, 2012 sees the launch of the premier Hip Hop MC Battle League in Cape Town, Lyrical Warfare (LW2012). Started out as once off weekly MC battles at Kuilsriver Stones in 2008, Lyrical Warfare has grown into a monthly MC battle consisting of cash prizes, live performances, local merchandise booths, points of sale for producers and an entertaining evening for Hip Hop enthusiasts.
Hosted by Mobcow Entertainment and Suburban Menace, with support from Sprite, the event aims to create a viable platform for Hip Hop artist to showcase their art. The event will run throughout 2012, with one event each month. It is based on a league points system that will see participants earning points and in turn winning cash prizes as the year

progresses, culminating into a grand event in December 2012. The winner of each leg every month will win a cash prize of R1000 - 00 along with a goodie bag courtesy of Sprite and associated sponsors. The first leg of the competition will be hosted on 29 February at Zula Sound Bar at 98 Long Street Cape Town. Doors open at 9pm and the cover charge is R20-00. Each event will end with a special performance by Mobcow Entertainment
