HEROES WEAR RED (Fomally BLOOD MONEY)
LIVE AT ZULA
TELL US WHAT YOU THINK

Described as a cross between the bands U2, Soundgarden and A Perfect Circle,
Heroes Wear Red deliver driving rock anthems with beautiful melodies, strong lyrics and powerful riffs. Their music furthermore has a strong pop sensibility with material that is as critically credible
as it is accessible. The band’s members comprise some of South Africa's most talented musicians, had their genesis been in the USA or Europe, they would probably enjoy superlatives such as
'Super Group' in their description. Drummer Garth McLeod is arguably one of the country’s best.
In addition to being a member of award winning SA trip-rock legends Sugardrive,
Garth has leant his considerable drumming skills to several other noteworthy SA bands
over the years and has played a role in shaping the works of bands like Martin Rocka
& The Sick Shop, Watershed and Scarlet Box.Frontman vocalist Tim Kroon, despite being
the youngest member of the band (at just 21), has made significant inroads into the industry
with numerous regional music competition titles under his belt, the most significant of these being awarded the Steven Tyler Scholarship from Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA) in 2005.
Lorne McGregor on lead guitar has a classical grounding. With his first performance delivered
as a jazz pianist over a decade ago, his subsequent switch to classical guitar has imbued him
with a great sensitivity for melody, structure, space and power that many guitarists strive for.
Gavin Wienand - bassist and founder of Heroes Wear Red, is also a decade long member
of the aforementioned Sugardrive. The Heroes Wear Red project has been more than two years
in conception for Gavin, stemming from an initial desire to further his writing and production
skills outside the Sugardrive dynamic.

Heroes Wear Red completed a countrywide summer tour (The Go Summer Tour powered by Xbox 360) in December 2006 alongside Driverlane and Prime Circle. In 2007 they completed their second nation-wide tour (The Powerzone Roadshow) and were also selected to perform at Doorstock
and the Oppikoppi Easter Festival. Heroes Wear Red have completed the recording of their debut album, set for release in February 2008, produced by American producer Rae DiLeo (Filter, Billy Idol,
Veruca Salt, Henry Rollins).
