What a lovely way to say goodbye 2011 and all the highs and lows that went with the year. EJ and her band gave an uplifting performance uniting the crowd with the New Year count down and adding their beautiful energy to the Zula celebrations. I had to sit down when I heard that EJ and bass guitar partner Grenville are relocating to Jo'berg due to work. They have been such a big part of Zula since we opened and we wish them all the luck in the world with their new venture. We were happy to hear that they are remaining in the music scene and will still be performing in Cape Town in the future with their projects. We will miss Grenville’s face at all the gigs he frequented, he is part of the few CT musicians that regularly supports other bands gigs and opens his mind to the industry and all it is offering.
Mr DJ rocked the Upfront Bar till Dj Gentleman Chad took over and took the crowd dancing into the night. Downstage pumped to the tunes of Dj Ras’Dynamite which people loved and the place was filled with the true to form eclectic mix of everyone and everything that Zula always attracts. Smiling faces, swinging hips and the hope that 2012 brings a balance and harmony to everyone’s stories was thick in the air. Outside the traffic jams of late party goers trying to find parking enjoyed the New Year in their cars, come out earlier next time!
2011 was a huge transition year for Zula and again a big thank you goes out to all the people who helped to support us through it. Work has already started on our 2012 events and projects and as always I enter the year with the blind faith that good intentions followed by actions will see us all to the places we need to be. My wish for the year is for EVERYONE to look after themselves like a God or Goddess, when it starts with you the positive transformations flow to everyone and change is lead with love and respect. So here's to 2012, but most of all, here's to YOU because it begins and ends with YOU!
Big love, Zoe
