Zula Culture 4th of April
Time for Change

Z: I’m really glad to say that after this Zula Culture we have a new permanent feature to the night, the interactive art wall. It was fantastic! It’s interesting to see the views of just a few people who passed through Zula that night on the theme ‘Time for Change’.

J: It was lovely that everybody had the opportunity to express their opinion on the theme ‘Time for change’. All the art materials were sponsored by WALTONS, a big thank you to you! There was great input; my personal favourite was ‘Embrace Change’ which goes hand in hand with ‘Change the way I see’. There were comments on peace, love, unity, health, happiness, politics, community, love and laughter and general tagging.

Z: The interviews on the coach were very interesting. We were joined by Rikus Nieuwenhuis from the company Heart of Healing. They are a progressive company that are creating sound business deals for charity. You can order top quality wines from the top vineyards for a fraction of the price and the money goes to charity. So now you can drink and feel good about yourself! You can check out more about them at HYPERLINK "http://www.heartofhealing.org.za" www.heartofhealing.org.za.

We were then joined by Fiona Scott Hayward from the Cape Town Astrologers association. We thought it only right to have someone who can tell us about the planetary changes that are affecting all our lives. If you would like to know more or have your chart done you can contact her at HYPERLINK "mailto:astrodesk@worldonline.co.za" astrodesk@worldonline.co.za

Dub Master China gave a dynamite performance, got everyone to their feet, and gave a smiley interview with Vusa on the coach. China’s time for change was poverty. J: In the exhibition room we had Laura Carmen feature her work. She is a very talented artist and expresser. She is very conscious about our conection between physical and psychological, and how they can affect each other if they are not in balance. She carries her Grandpas words with her; ‘Wat die hart van vol is loop die mond van oor’ or ‘What the heart is full of the mouth spills over’ and it created the realisation of the power of thought and words. Her son is another big inspiration in her work, using her art to help overcome his fears. She uses mixed media of pencil, thread, oil paint, ink and photo copies. Her beautiful artworks can be seen and experienced in the exhibition room at Zula for the length of April and you can contact Zula with any inquires.

Z: It was a pleasure to have the Trio Habib (Trio of Love) playing. They are three very talented musicians that master guitar, percussive drums and violin; they penetrate Indian, Spanish, Middle Eastern and African cord progressions and beats. They work very well together and created a mystical feel in the night. They were joined on one song by Beverly (from London) belly dancing. She is performing her new show at the Baxter Theatre soon. She’s excellent at balancing things on her head then jiggling everything else about, very clever. If you would like to get in touch with the Trio Habib or Beverly contact HYPERLINK "mailto:triohabib@gmail.com" triohabib@gmail.com.

J: We are forming a relationship with Eagle Lighting in Long Street who are going to be provide lighting for the artiste works in the exhibition room. They had a stall on the balcony creating awareness on energy saving bulbs, and how much they will save you and the planet if you use them.

Z: Jonathan never fails to entertain and it always makes me smile when he performs. Being a poet and story teller and all round talkative guy, he has now formed a band called Khumbu Neshamwari. If you would like to contact them you can at HYPERLINK "mailto:gemnkala@yahoo.com" gemnkala@yahoo.com Alongside Jonathan is the beautiful Noza (Alan Funk). What a voice she has, I was listening at one point through the sound headphones and she was pitch perfect with such a clear warm tone. It was there first gig but I really think they are on their way to having a great band, they are a joy to watch and listen too. With the funky African vibes and beautiful vocals but the thing that really sets this band apart from others is the energy that fronts it; Jonathan tells truthful and passionate tales with huge positive energy and creates massive audience connections. At one point he had everybody in the room holding hands and dancing, the room became one, and he made his point; we are one!

Peace to the mother land!
